OUR STORY

IT STARTED WITH CUTE

Cute is my corgi, and the story of CutePaw began with her. Over the years, she has been through three surgeries for bladder stones, two procedures to remove lipomas, and has lived with cruciate ligament damage in both back legs.


At first, conservative care helped her stay active. But getting into a high-sided bed was never a simple step. Her front paws could reach the edge, while her back legs still needed an extra hop before the rest of her body could follow.

That’s when I started looking for a bed that would make it easier for her to
get in and out.

WHEN HER NEEDS CHANGED

A BED SHOULD NEVER BECOME A BARRIER

Over time, a problem near the end of Cute's spine left her back legs much weaker. She started falling over regularly, sometimes struggled to stand up after a day out, and eventually could no longer push off with her back legs to jump.

What had once been a small hop became impossible. The edge of a dog bed should never keep a dog from reaching their place to rest.

GETTING IN IS ONLY THE START

Lowering the sides—or removing the entry edge altogether—made a bed easier for Cute to enter. But I soon realised that a flat mat was not right for her.

She has always liked to sleep pressed against my leg, a cushion or the soft edge of a bed. After several operations and stays in cold, unfamiliar hospital surroundings, warmth, softness and closeness seemed to matter even more to her.


Easy access alone was not enough. When I could not find a bed that suited both the way she entered and the way she rested, I began designing one around those needs.

CutePaw started with one dog, but it is designed for many more like her—for short-legged dogs facing edges that feel too high, senior dogs who need more time to stand and settle, and dogs whose legs are not as strong or steady as they once were.
